In an episode from the US version of the BBC programme a man presented his grandmother’s breast implants from the 1960s.
During the instalment, the man explained to the cameras that the implants became a bit of a ‘joke’ within his family as the years went on.
He said: “So these are breast implants from 1965. They were made by Dow and Corning, Midland, Michigan. A bit of a family heirloom, actually.
“My grandmother, avid estate saler, garage saler, found them at a garage sale, actually, unused. It’s a bit of a funny joke. I have my grandmother’s breast implants.”
He added: “Everyone always asks… they give you that look of just like, ‘How did she acquire them? Like, In what context do you have her breast implants? New in box, still in the package.’
“And they actually do come with instructions for performing the procedure as well.”
When it was revealed that the box of implants also included a pamphlet of instructions, a man off-camera enquired: “So you could do it at home, do it yourself”, which prompted the guest to start giggling.
After the Antiques Roadshow episode aired, the TikTok account for the US series shared the clip on the social media platform, and confused viewers quickly commented on the post.
One user typed: “Saw this last night and was like ‘what the heck???'”
Another fan remarked: “The old mammories I’m reminded of”, as a third asked, “Is this for real?!’”
Many other viewers were baffled when it was revealed that the implants were only valued at $100 (£79).
Several others penned down their surprised reactions at finding out that the breast implants were invented in 1960 and not later.
In 1895, the first breast implants were created by Vincent Czerny, but after removing a tumour from a patient’s breast, he is said to have then moved a benign lipoma to avoid asymmetry.
Recently, on the UK version of Antiques Roadshow, a guest was left speechless after discovering the whooping value of her 1970 nude portraits.
The elderly lady gained a lot of attention when she handed the expert the pictures, which had been produced over 40 years ago.
The image was valued between £1,500, and £2,000 at auction.
Antiques Roadshow airs on PBS in the US and on the BBC in the UK.
