ANTIQUES Roadshow viewers have been left shocked after a woman’s £2 charity shop items were actually ultra-rare vases.
The floral purchases stunned fans of the hit show on Sunday night when the oblivious owner found out they were actually worth an eye-watering sum.
The two vases were worth thousands[/caption]Admitting she was about to throw them away, the woman headed over to the production of the BBC programme in Derry, Northern Ireland, to see what the history was behind them.
Watchers were not expecting much for the pair of £1 vases – considering the ornaments weren’t in a good condition anymore.
A team of experts valued the white and pink holders and gave everyone the shocking news.
The vases were actually from a pottery firm called Belleek which are “highly prized” if collectors get their hands on a piece.
They appeared to be one-of-a-kind when the experts revealed that Belleek didn’t make many tulip decorated vases.
It turns out, they were from the 19th century and could be worth thousands.
The expert valued just one of the vases between £700 and £1,000 to everyone’s surprise.
It comes after a record-breaking item made show history.
Collector Paul Laidlaw came across an old camera in an antiques shop after the owner warned him that there was “stuff everywhere.”
It turns out, it was actually worth six-figures.
One expert on the show was left shocked by some items brought to the table.
Gordon Foster was left “gobsmacked” by a guest’s collection of family heirlooms which have huge historical and royal significance.
On another episode, a guest was left overwhelmed as he discovered that a painting he had paid just £5 for had actually got a much bigger value.
